Three students from the East Valley Institute of Technology won gold medals last month at two national competitions.
Laura Kulas, a senior at Mesa’s Red Mountain High School, won first place in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) pharmacology contest in Orlando.
She got the best score on a pharmacology knowledge test, competing against about 50 other students. Breanna Bullis, a graduate of Mesa’s Skyline High School, and Nicole Bird, a graduate of Chandler High School, took home gold medals from the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo.
EVIT is a joint technological education district that provides about 40 occupation-specific programs for high school students at ten school districts across the East Valley.
The programs are free for high school students.
