A Gilbert Unified School District governing board member will be unable to run for re-election on the Nov. 2 ballot after the Arizona Supreme Court upheld a Maricopa County Superior Court decision regarding a ballot signature challenge.
Adelaida Severson joined the governing board in November when she was selected to replace exiting board member Van Dunham.
Dunham was in the final year of his four-year term but moved out of the district. Severson's exit leaves Staci Burk, Blake Sacha and Shane Stapley on the ballot for two open positions. Board president Thad Stump announced previously that he would not seek re-election.
