In an effort to spread the message that distracted drivers are not only a danger to themselves but everyone else on the road, Daniel Rivera, a Boy Scout from Troop 282, is hosting an assembly Friday at Gilbert Classical Academy to help raise awareness and educate peers on the dangers of texting while driving.
Rivera organized a visit with representatives from MASK (Mother’s Awareness on School-Age Kids) and Allstate to present anti-texting messages. Apache Sands Towing is providing a wrecked vehicle which will be displayed in the student parking lot as a visual reminder of the consequences of distracted driving.
