Three Mesa Unified School District teachers have been named semifinalists for the Rodel Charitable Foundation's Exemplary Teacher Initiative. The teachers being honored for "extraordinarily high levels in high poverty schools" are: Eleanor Scheman, a kindergarten teacher at Jefferson Elementary School; and James Clemens, a fourth-grade teacher, and Nancy LaSlavic, a third-grade teacher, at Kerr Elementary School.
Over the next few weeks, Rodel administrators will view the teachers in action. Later this year, winners will be named.
