A security guard for Desert Vista High School was found dead on the track Wednesday morning. Phoenix police say it appears the man died of a heart attack.

Pat Quinn, who was in his 50s, was found dead before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning. He was known to run on the track often.

Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes said it appears he died of a heart attack. They do not plan to investigate further.

"Patrick J. (Pat) Quinn was employed as a security guard with the District from 2002-2004 and then again from 2006 until present," said Linda Littell, Director of Communications for Tempe Union High School District. "He was a dedicated and well-respected employee and our heart goes out to the family, some of whom are also employees of the District."

Crisis counselors were available for staff and students at the school Wednesday. Classes were running on a normal schedule.
