Target has awarded a $50,000 “21st Century Libraries for 21st Century Students” grant to Mesa Unified School District to fund ebooks, “to boost English language arts skills districtwide,” according to a release.
“With reduced library budgets, we can’t support curriculum needs as much as we’d like to,” said Lisa Bowen, district library services specialist.
“Our new Common Core State Standards in English language arts require students to read more informational text. So our focus, this year, is on nonfiction.”
