NO SCHOOL: East Valley schools will be closed today in observance of Labor Day.

PIZZA FUNDRAISER: Order a pizza at the Chandler Papa John’s Pizza at Alma School and Ray roads on Wednesday and you can raise money for Chandler’s CTA-Goodman Campus. Mention CTA-Goodman and the school will receive a percentage. Information: (480) 963-7272.

MCDONALD’S NIGHT: Support Chandler’s Frye Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization by eating at the McDonald’s at Frye and Pecos roads between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Frye staff will serve customers at McDonald’s during this time. Information: (480) 812-6400.

PARENT INFO: Parents are invited to join Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School parent liaison Maria Doom for coffee and conversation at 8 a.m. Thursday in the courtyard, 700 N. Hartford St., Chandler. Doom will answer questions and share information. Information: (480) 812-6700.

SPALDING CLASS: A Spalding Class for parents will be offered 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Sept. 11 in CTA-Goodman Elementary School’s Multipurpose Room, 2600 W. Knox Road, Chandler. Parents will be taught the essential elements of the Spalding Method, including phonograms, handwriting, spelling rules and markings. Information: (480) 812-6900.

PTA MEETING: Falcon Hill Elementary School in Mesa holds its PTA meeting Thursday night at Papa John’s, 2733 N. Power Road, McDowell and Power roads. Papa John’s will donate 20 percent of its sales to the school. Information: (480) 472-8600.

GAME NIGHT: CTA-Goodman Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization will host a Game Night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the Multipurpose Room, 2600 W. Knox Road, Chandler. Information: (480) 812-6900.

COLLEGE FAIR: Gilbert Unified School District holds a regional college fair from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Highland High School, 4301 E. Guadalupe Road. ORCHESTRA CONCERT: Highland High School’s Symphonic Strings Orchestra will hold a free concert 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the school, 4301 E. Guadalupe Road, Gilbert. WILD DESERT NIGHTS: Go on a twilight tour of the desert, observe nocturnal animals and explore wildlife in the night sky at the Southwest Wildlife Rehabilitation & Educational Foundation’s Wild Desert Nights. The event is 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Southwest Wildlife’s Nature Center near Dynamite Boulevard and 156th Street, northeast of Scottsdale. SUMMER INTERNSHIPS: Minority students in high school or college and interested in working for Fortune 500 companies can apply for full-time internships spanning two to four summers through INROADS, a national nonprofit organization.
