Schools in Gilbert will receive a boost in math and science education thanks to a two-year Math and Science Partnership grant co-funded by the Arizona Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education.
The program will fund training for 35 first-through fifth-grade elementary teachers at 11 qualifying schools to give them “more background knowledge in physical science, so they could teacher their students with confidence,” a release states.
“It is very exciting. We don’t get a lot of opportunity to share this kind of training with elementary teachers. Physical science is just hard. People don’t like it, they don’t know it, they don’t understand it, and it would be so nice to see the younger students have an opportunity to have their teachers feel better about it,” said Gilbert Unified School District’s Science Coordinator, Amy Gingell.

I think it's great when a local district earns some big bucks for innovation, but isn't this the kind of Federal spending/interference/Obamalearning that everyone who hates Washington is up in arms about?
