My awards include the National Merit Scholarship, Arizona Science Fair awards, and top 50 in the State Math Contest. For extra-curriculars, I’m involved in the Red Cross club and I work at a cancer research lab at ASU. I’m going to be attending Brown University next year for the Program in Liberal Medical Education. I plan to double major in neuroscience and computer science.
Jennifer Sheng-yun Chiang
My awards include the National Merit Scholarship, National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition 1st Place, National Honors High School Orchestra principal chair, Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra of the United States member, and soloist with the Phoenix Symphony, Chandler Symphony Orchestra, and Scottsdale Arts Orchestra. My strongest extra-curriculars include the piano and the flute. I will be attending Harvard University next year. I do not know what I want to major in yet.

I plan to attend Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University as a major in computer systems engineering and double minor in biological sciences and German. I was a participant in the Helios Scholars Program at the Translational Genomics Research Institute. Moreover, I was the President and Head Programmer of Robotics. I was also a Minitown camp counselor and a part of Unity Leaders, a group that organizes and leads Awareness Days. I was involved with National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and German Club as well. My awards include American High School Poets National Poetry Contest Topical Winner, Tempe Sister Cities Young Artist Showcase 3rd Place in Art Category, and Arizona Center for Germanic Culture Essay Contest Winner.
The high-school accomplishments of which I’m most proud are reaching the varsity policy debate semifinals of the ASU Debate Tournament, getting the opportunity to counsel as part of the Unity Program, and getting 6th in the Competition Government National Finals. During high school, my most important extra-curricular activities have been Speech and Debate, Band, Unity, Competition Government, Math Olympiads, and Choir. As for the next four years, I plan to attend the University of North Carolina and major in Political Science.
My high school accomplishments include being named a Coca Cola Scholar, getting 6th place at the We the People National competition, becoming a National Merit Finalist, and being a member of the National Honor Society. The most meaningful extracurricular activities that I have participated in surrounded my involvement in Speech and Debate, Key Club, Bollywood dance, Competition Government, research at the Biodesign Institute, and volunteering as a CIT at Arizona Camp Sunrise/Sidekicks. I will be attending Dartmouth University in the fall, where I plan on double majoring in Biology and Political Science on a pre-med track.
My greatest high school accomplishments are volunteering as an English teacher for the AID Summer program in Taiwan, placing 6th with my team at the “We the People” National competition, and being named a National Merit Winner. The extracurricular activities that have been most important to me these four years include Varsity Tennis, Choir, Competition Government, volunteering at the Banner Desert Hospital, and interning at the ASU Biodesign Institute. This fall I will be attending the University of Southern California, where I plan to major in Human Biology, with a pre-med emphasis.
My achievements include the National Merit Scholarship and winning the state team title for the Arizona Brain Bee in 2012 and 2013. I’m involved in HOSA and interned at the ASU Cochlear Implant Laboratory. I will be attending University of Southern California next year and plan to major in biology.
Achievements in high school include being a National Merit Finalist, and a founding member of T.E.A.M. (Teens Enriching Adults Musically). I was also a delegate to Lower Hutt, New Zealand in the Tempe Sister Cities program, and participated in the Arizona Study Music Program through level 12 for the piano. This year, I competed at the State level in swimming, and was a member of the CdS Competition Government class who took 6th place at Nationals. Finally, I was an intern this year for Dr. Dai at Arizona State University in the Chemical Engineering department, where I was able to publish an article on the research. I am attending Baylor University to study either Computer Science or Chemical Engineering.
