PARENT MEETING: Librarians will be on hand to showcase a variety of free, reliable online resources perfect for student research projects at this month’s Scottsdale Parent Council meeting. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Scottsdale Unified School District’s Education Center, 3811 N. 44th St., Phoenix.

JEWELRY FUNDRAISER: Saguaro High School’s marching band is raising money to go to Dublin, Ireland, and march in that city’s 2008 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The band’s current fundraiser is through Cookie Lee Jewelry. Fifty percent of all sales through Tuesday will go directly to the band’s Ireland fund. Call (602) 432-3914 for information.

SPECIAL EDUCATION: “Effects that Disability has on Family Function and Tactics to Survive and Thrive” is the topic of a discussion led by psychologists Marty Keller and Chris Nicholls at October’s Special Education Parents Advisory Council of Scottsdale. The meeting will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Mohave District Annex’s Kachina Room, 8505 E. Valley View Road, Scottsdale. Call (480) 513-7012 or e-mail dru@sepacs.org for information.

ARCADIA TOUR: Arcadia High School is showing off its new buildings and plans for future renovations to the community. “Come See our Progress” will feature continuous student-led tours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday starting in the Arcadia High School office, 4703 E. STORY TIME: Tonalea Elementary School is holding a Family Story Night at 6 p.m. Thursday in the school’s cafeteria, 6801 E. Oak St., Scottsdale.

SAT EXAM PRACTICE: Students can take a free SAT practice exam from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday or attend a SAT strategies workshop from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Palomino Library, 12575 E. COLLEGE FAIR: More than 200 college and universities from around the world will be represented at the Greater Phoenix National College Fair this weekend. The free event will include workshops on getting into and paying for college. The event will be noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Phoenix Convention Center’s West Hall 1, 111 N. FUTURE TEACHERS: The Scottsdale Charros is accepting applications for its 2008 Future Teacher Scholarship, an annual prize given to two Scottsdale Unified School District high school seniors interested in pursuing a teaching degree at an Arizona university. Applications are due Oct. 31. Applications are available at www.susd.org.
