The Gilbert Unified School District governing board approved Superintendent Dave Allison’s performance pay for November and December during a vote Dec. 18.

The board voted 5-0.

Arizona law requires that a portion of a superintendent’s salary be tied to performance. The Gilbert governing board set it up that a vote be made every few months to award that piece to the superintendent.

“Over the last two months, I think Dr. Allison did an excellent job,” board member Lily Tram said, noting Allison’s quick response to parents about school safety following the shooting in Connecticut.

During the last decision to give Allison performance pay, the board voted against the measure 3-2.
