Board to discuss budget issues

The Queen Creek Unified School District governing board will meet Tuesday at the district office, 20740 S. Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek.

The board will discuss the district's state budget implications, available federal and state grants and the district's direction at a 4:30 p.m. planning and work session.

The 6 p.m. meeting will have the board discuss and possibly approve an agreement between the district and Maricopa County Community College for continuing advanced placement classes.

PTO looking for Spring Fling vendors

Queen Creek Elementary School's Parent Teacher Organization is looking for vendors who want to rent tables at the school's upcoming Spring Fling.

The festival will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 27 at the school, 23636 S. 204th St., Queen Creek. There will be a silent auction, food and game booths and bouncers. Proceeds will benefit Queen Creek Elementary students and staff for classroom supplies, enrichment activities, playground equipment, and Smart Boards.

Christian school to host open house

Calvary Christian School will host an open house for the 2009-10 school year at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at 19248 E. San Tan Blvd., Queen Creek. Registration for preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten to sixth grade will be available. Visit the school, meet the teachers and view the curriculum. Refreshments will be served.

Higley

Special ed training for post-graduation

The Higley Unified School District's Special Education Department at Williams Field and Higley high schools has begun an association with the Arizona Department of Economic Security's Rehabilitation Services Administration. The association will help families and students with disabilities prepare for graduation. It will also help them explore post-secondary school options and discuss further training, pre-vocational and vocational work activities, and other possible services.

Ellyn Taylor, a vocational rehabilitation counselor, will be available to answer questions from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Higley district office, 2935 S. Recker Road, Gilbert.
