Gilbert’s Mesquite Junior High School has launched a unified physical education class where general education students are paired with special education students to reach fitness goals by working together. Teacher Tiffany Blasdel began the program in January. Eighth-grade general education students must apply to enroll in the class and must obtain two teacher recommendations. This semester, there were 79 applicants for only 25 openings.
