To help reduce utility costs, solar panels have been installed at Four Peaks Elementary School in a joint effort by SRP and the Apache Junction Unified School District.

Four Peaks received a 65-panel, 13.2 kWh solar system, to install on the roof of the school's cafeteria. The panels will save the district about $1,800 annually in energy costs. SRP provided the panels free to the district and will maintain the system for 10 years.

"Having this system will not only save the district money, but more importantly will provide educational opportunities for our students to learn the benefits of solar power and the role it will play in their future," said associate superintendent Jim Lockwood.
