The Gilbert Unified School District governing board will meet Tuesday at the district office, 140 S. Gilbert Road.
The board will discuss an evaluation of student assessment at 6 p.m. and follow at 7 p.m. with the regular meeting. At that time, it will reconsider the controversial Campo Verde High School name for the district's fifth high school. Suggested names from an online survey and e-mails areunder consideration. No school Thursday, Friday for holiday
There will be no school on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Environmental education grants offered
Arizona teachers of kindergarten through 12th-grademay apply for more than $5,000 in funding for environmental education activities in their classroom, school or community, through Valley Forward's EarthFest Education Grant.
Valley Forward will award one or more grants for projects that focus on such topics as water, air, land, plants and animals, recycling, transportation or energy. Application forms are available by calling (602) 240-2408 or can be downloaded online at www.valleyforward.org. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. Dec. 5. Valley Forward's online environmental resource directory also features a list of field trip opportunities, curriculum, classroom speakers and related materials.
Islands school presents concert
