In March, Ann-Eve Pedersen, president of the Arizona Education Network, signed the forms launching an initiative drive to make permanent the additional one-cent hike on the state sales tax set to expire the middle of next year. (Capitol Media Services file photo)

Hmm, that would be too bad. I wouldn't have a chance to vote myself a tax hike.
Oh, wait, thats a good thing.

I suppose the Education groups will now try to get the original ballot measure excluding universities approved since that was initially filed.

[wink] Well thank you tax payers association for your good work. Have to keep an
eye
on those people who continually want more taxes for their own benefit. We should be
lowering sales taxes instead of raising them. And when"they" practice business as usual in turning
temporary sales tax into permanent sounds to me like well... "they" are up to their
same old tricky tricks.

Pfffffffff, more taxes! This, one cent to every dollar which totals one dollar out of one hundred, ten dollars out of one thousand and 100 dollars out of ten thousand is just a stepping stone to two cents.
And further more, the educated only cause problems by questioning things like, why corporations are considered people with individual rights and many of their shareholders are foreigners yet can give undisclosed amounts of campaign donations to help sway our elections.
Money for education, what a ripoff.

I will vote against any bond issues or any sales tax meant to add extra funds for education until we are at the very least able to get an accurate count of how many non English speaking illegal aliens have invaded our schools. All we wanted was an actual count but they said that was somehow unconstitutional.

Don't fall for the nonsense about spending equals results. Newark, NJ spends nearly 25k per pupil, Asbury Park, NJ spends over 30k per pupil and both school systems are among the worst in the country at educating children.
Until you can get parents of low performing children to participate in their education and place a high value on achievement the money will be wasted.
Spend an adequate sum to ensure the children are given a chance to get a quality education and that's where the public responsibility ends. What the children do with that chance is part of their life choices.
