Grad honored for work with poor in India

Chandler resident Pooja Ramesh, 18, a recent graduate of Tempe Preparatory Academy, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship as part of the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program.

Pooja co-founded “Asha-Arizona Kids,” an organization encouraging socioeconomic change in India through the education of underprivileged children and, helped raise more than $18,000 to fund rainwater harvesting systems in 10 Indian villages.

She will attend University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business in the fall.
