A Mesa doctor accused of sexually touching women during examinations entered a plea of not guilty Wednesday in Maricopa County Superior Court.
Dr. Gabriel Ogbonnaya, 43, of Healing Touch Internal Medicine is charged with 14 felony counts of sexual abuse and sexual assault-related charges in the alleged sexual touching of eight women, according to a Maricopa County Superior Court document.
Ogbonnaya has been arrested twice by Mesa police on such allegations, the first time on June 9 after two women reported the claims against him to Mesa police. Ogbonnaya again was arrested later that month after more women who said he did the same thing to them came forward, according to a Mesa police report.
Ogbonnaya is free on bail, but he is not allowed to practice medicine, pending the outcome of the case. The Arizona Medical Board suspended his license to practice and ordered him to undergo a psychosexual evaluation.
His attorney, Jan Beuscher, said Ogbonnaya is innocent.
Ogbonnaya is next scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on Aug. 26.
