A Mesa Fire Department Haz-Mat Crew responded to an odor at Mesa High School, believed to be a release of pepper spray that resulted in the evacuation of the school on Thursday.

Crews responded about 2:45 p.m. to the campus’ main building at 1630 E. Southern Avenue near the end of the school day.

The odor stemmed from what appeared to be a release of pepper spray in one of the hallways on the first floor of the school, according to Forrest Smith, a Mesa fire spokesman.

A number of students who were affected by the smell were checked, but no longer complaining, according to Smith.

The Mesa Haz-Mat team is working to verify what was released and school officials worked to get the students transported home after a brief delay.

No students were taken to the hospital as a result, according to Smith.

I remember a time when pepper was not a spray, but a spice.

When spice was "Old Spice" or seasonings found only on grocery store shelves.

When salt was made by Morton for sprinkling on food.

When folks only used bath salts mixed into a tub of hot water.

Things were far more sensible then and it made the old days good.

Didn't seven Mesa High School students end up in the hospital last week for "spice" or bath salts or some other controlled substance.
Maybe that is what these students and teachers smelled. Some thing that makes the kids of today "high" because they have all that "peer pressure" to look and act just right.

Folks, this just shows where all of your past hard-earned State and Federal Taxes have gone = down the toilet.

Vote no on every single Bond Issue. Stop the throwing of Taxes that hard-working Arizonians struggle to pay year in and year out down the so-called "Education Pie-Hole". All of these taxes for what....an out of control ...DRUG CULTURE IN OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM. IF IT IS HAPPENING IN OUR HIGH SCHOOLS...THEN REST ASSURED IT IS HAPPENING IN OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS, OUR GRAMMER SCHOOLS AND DEFINITELY IN OUR .........COMMUNITY COLLEGS AND STATE-FUNDED UNIVERSITIES..........."NOT ONE DIME MORE...NOT ONE PENNY MORE".
