The search is over for the second suspect in the January murder of a 22-year-old Tempe man involving a drug deal gone bad inside the victim's apartment.

Tempe's Homicide Squad and Criminal Apprehension Surveillance Team assisted by the U.S. Marshal's Service of Arizona and Vallejo, Calif., police arrested Larry Dean Tellis Jr. in Vallejo without incident on suspicion of first-degree murder and armed robbery on Feb. 16 after tips led them to Tellis.

Police say about 3 p.m. on Jan. 18, Tellis Jr. and Blaine Griffin Jr., were inside Allen Philip Cropper's residence at the Hayden Lane Apartments, 1896 E. Hayden Lane to purchase marijuana. A fight broke out, and both Tellis and Griffin fired shots at Cropper and two other men, who were shot and injured, according to Tempe police.

Cropper was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Griffin was arrested on Jan. 25, also on suspicion of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Tellis is awaiting an extradition hearing in California where it will be determined when he will be returned to Arizona to face charges.
