According to Mesa Police, officers were called to 1903 N. Country Club Drive in reference to an aggravated assault. Police arrived to find the victim holding the suspect - his neighbor, Jason Ryan, 21 - for police at about 5:45 p.m.

The victim said he had called police earlier in the day about problems with the suspect. He was advised to get an Injunction Against Harassment against the neighbor.

After obtaining the injunction at the Mesa Municipal Court, he returned home where the suspect ran at him and hit him on the head with a metal vehicle anti-theft club. The suspect continued to try and hit the victim until the victim was able to detain him. Mesa Fire responded to treat the victim.

According to police, the 57-year-old victim has some visible minor injuries on his head and leg areas. He was treated at the hospital and released with “back pain,” police said.

Ryan was booked into the Mesa Jail for aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and criminal damage.
