An advertisement that calls for the resignation of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will air during Wednesday's Republican presidential primary debate in Mesa. The ad is funded by Citizens for a Better Arizona, which has been critical of Arpaio and worked on the 2011 recall of former Senate President Russell Pearce.

Citizens for a Better Arizona said Tuesday this is the first ad of its kind. The organization has been scrutinizing Arpaio since December, when a U.S. Department of Justice civil-rights investigation found MCSO policies led to discrimination against Latinos in its jail and police operations.

The organization said more than 60 elected officials have called for Arpaio's resignation in the past two months, including members of Congress, state legislators, supervisors, city council members and others.

"The organization has been scrutinizing Arpaio since December" - Actually, I'm quite sure they've been"scrutinizing" him since BEFORE December.

"The organization said more than 60 elected officials have called for Arpaio's resignation" - However, he's been VOTED into office. And it's also possible that he will be again.

i'm sure weirdauthority that they don't need or want your thanks, however if your smart enough which i doubt then go to the internet and google citizens for a better arizona. idiots like you need to keep thanking yourself for supporting a sheriff who has cost the taxpayers so much money while he has been sheriff, but you don't care as long as he catches a mexican or two.

AZ needs everyone who hasn't voted in any of the last 6 years elections to register and vote. Also anyone who has voted in the past 6 years....STOP! You must all be very emotional and self obsorbed and it seems very quick to sacrifice our rights just to add people to the Ladmo bag line in Arpio's jails. If you don't agree with this, okay, but if my comments anger you...STOP VOTING! It would be better if we got another state to vote for us. New Mexico please vote for us!

@PLANETKURTH: You claim "Arpio's" (Spelled Arpaio) has taken "our rights"? What rights has he taken? Why would New Mexico vote? Only LEGAL RESIDENTS in Maricopa County, AZ can vote.

Where do you get off telling me how to vote, or not to vote? Aren't YOU trying to take away MY RIGHTS with that statement?
