A 53-year-old man police say stole more than $5,000 worth of power washers from a Mesa auto container management business was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft on Monday.

David Ebbert, who has a history of burglary, theft and criminal damage offenses, was arrested about noon in the 23100 block of East Williams Field Road after the victim noticed the power washers in his backyard, according to police.

The power washers and a computer were taken from a locked shed and an office. When police arrived at the scene, they noticed footprints and motorcycle tracks in the desert area leading from the business to Ebbert’s home.

Ebbert first told police that he bought the items from a friend and knew they had been stolen, but later recanted his statement.
