PHOENIX (AP) — Attorneys pushing racial profiling allegations against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office at a trial emphasized in written closing arguments that they believe the sheriff launched some immigration patrols based on racially charged citizen complaints that alleged no crimes.
Plaintiffs' attorneys made the filing Thursday night, while Arpaio's attorneys filed their brief a few hours earlier.
Arpaio is accused of ordering some patrols not based on reports of crime but rather on letters from people who complained about people with dark skin congregating in an area or speaking Spanish.
The sheriff's lawyers deny the allegation and say Arpaio placed no value on the letters.
Deputies are accused of pulling over some vehicles only to make immigration checks.
Arpaio denies the allegation.
The judge hasn't revealed when he'll deliver his verdict.

The county sheriff is the (1) vitae justitiae, ---the life of Justice---for no suit begins, and no process is served, but by the sheriff. The sheriff is to return indifferent juries for the trial of men’s lives, liberties, and properties. The sheriff is the (2) vitae legis---the life of the law---he is to make execution of law which is the life and fruit of the law. The sheriff is (3) the vitae reipublicae- the CHIEF conservator of the county peace—the principalis conservator pacis—which is the vitae reipublicae pax.
The sheriff possesses powers to perform those tasks. As CHIEF conservator of the peace he may call out the State militia in his county to conserve it. To suppress riots he may call out the Posse Comitatus, all the power which the county possesses. The Posse Comitatis is every able bodied male and female from 18 to 45 to conserve the peace. The FBI cannot operate within any county without grant of privilege by the county sheriff who is the CHIEF conservator of the county peace.
US Constitution, Article VI ---The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and ALL EXECUTIVE AND JUDICIAL OFFICERS, both of the United States and OF THE SEVERAL STATES, SHALL BE BOUND BY OATH OR AFFIRMATION, TO SUPPORT THIS CONSTITUTION.-----
The county sheriff is an executive officer of the State. He is bound to support the US Constitution. Thee is no discretion.
US Constitution; Article VI ---THIS CONSTITUTION, AND THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES WHICH SHALL BE MADE IN PUSUANCE THEREOF; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, SHALL BE THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.----
The illegal alien laws made inpursuance of the US Constitution are the Supreme Law of the Land. Illegal entry by an illegal alien is a Federal crime. County sheriffs as conservators of the peace are bound to arrest illegal aliens for illegal entry. Legal immigrants have documents on file with the Federal government. In general illegal aliens have no documents on file. Those with no documents have committed illegal entry and the sheriff is bound to arrest. Failure to arrest is malfeasance in office.

Their argument: Whaaaaaa....my dirty illegal brothers and sisters cannot pour into Maricopa County because Joe and his deputies are doing their job...Whaaaaaaaaa...We want the American taxpayer to pay for our health care, education and provide us with legal counsel when (not if) we break the law.

the attorneys have done their job voter, try again. their belief is part of their closing argument, their argument is based one their evidence/presentation. It is not as simple as you would have the rest of us think.

"emphasized in written closing arguments that they believe"
They BELIEVE? So they don't have any actual EVIDENCE?
That may be fine for the armchair theocrats who argue on this forum...but this is a COURT OF LAW. Beliefs have no sway here, just facts and evidence.
Looks like Joe's got this one beat.
