During October’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Operation Safe Driver week, conducted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, more than 1,790 commercial vehicle inspections were done, along with more than 2,200 passenger car traffic stops.

The operation focuses on enforcement of crash-causing moving violations committed by both commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles operating around large trucks and buses.

There were 240 citations issued for commercial vehicles and 794 citations issued for passenger cars. DPS officers and Arizona Trucking Association staff taught the “Teens and Trucks” driving training course at a Valley high school to educate young drivers on safe driving habits around large trucks and buses.
