A 22-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV at a Chandler intersection.

Chandler police spokesman Joe Favazzo said the accident happened at the intersection of Warner and Dobson Roads around 4:40 p.m.

Air15 video showed the motorcycle and the SUV both badly damaged from the crash.

Officers told ABC15 the motorcycle was speeding eastbound on Warner when it collided with the SUV which was turning southbound on Dobson into a strip mall.

The motorcycle caught fire and the rider was thrown from his vehicle.

Chandler detective Seth Tyler said the motorcyclist died and the female driver of the other SUV was transported to a local hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

The SUV driver collided with three other vehicles headed eastbound on Warner. Police said no one in those vehicles was injured.

Police investigators are on scene trying to determine what caused the crash.

Eastbound Warner Road at Dobson is shut down while police investigate. Authorities are advising commuters to avoid the area.
