MARICOPA — A Tempe police officer is recovering after being involved in a crash on his police motorcycle while driving to his home.

Tempe police Sgt. Jeffrey Glover says the officer suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash on State Route 347 between Interstate 10 and Maricopa.

The officer hasn’t been identified, but he was flown to a hospital for treatment following Wednesday evening’s accident.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says it appears the officer rear-ended an SUV. DPS is still investigating why the accident happened.

Glad the guy is okay, but motorcycles have no place in policing. If he was in a car, this would not have happened.
