Department of Public Safety officials say 20 people, including children, have been injured after a multi-car collision on the 1-17 Sunday morning.
Authorities say the four-vehicle crash happened around 10:53 a.m. at milepost 256.5, south of Bumblebee in between Black Canyon City and Cordes Junction.
DPS said there were no injuries reported in two of the vehicles. The children, who were riding in another vehicle, were wearing seatbelts and suffered non life-threatening injuries. One individual was trapped in their car, but was able to get out.
The roadway was closed while police investigated. Witnesses say traffic was backed up for miles south to Black Canyon City.
The roadway re-opened around 12:15 p.m.
