A former Mesa school bus driver accused of groping a young girl and luring her into his car has pleaded guilty in the case.
Maricopa County prosecutors say Billy Bryant, 64, pleaded guilty Friday to three counts of molestation of a child and one count of aggravated assault. He’s scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 13.
Mesa police arrested Bryant after a 9-year-old girl reportedly was molested in November 2010.
Police say the girl’s father witnessed the attack and pulled his daughter from the suspect’s vehicle. He was able to provide officers with the license plate number of the vehicle and that led to Bryant’s arrest.
Authorities say Bryant used to drive a bus for a Mesa charter school, but was fired in 2009 after being accused in another molestation case.
