Tempe police say a former officer used his position to make dates and have sex with women.

The department announced Wednesday that 26-year-old Officer Jared Blanchard submitted his resignation in lieu of being fired.

Tempe police say Blanchard had sex with at least four women he met on duty.

An investigation determined that Blanchard violated the police department's policy of abusing his position for his personal gain, receiving gifts or favors because of his status as an officer, violating the department's code of conduct, and engaging in conduct unbecoming an officer.

Details of the incidents are contained in Tempe police investigative reports obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request and confirmed to The Associated Press by Tempe police.
