The Mesa police SWAT team arrested a father and son with lengthy criminal histories who were wanted on outstanding warrants after a brief standoff involving criminal damage and theft offenses in connection to a city utility system on Saturday.
Joe Riddell, 38, and his son, Eric Riddell, 18, were arrested on suspicion of the offenses shortly after 11 p.m. when officers responded to a residence in the 6500 block of East Pebble Drive.
Officers who arrived on the scene were unable to coax the Riddells out of the house by negotiating with them through a window. Then SWAT arrived and the Riddells exited the home, according to police.
Police also cited Joe Riddell’s girlfriend, Andrea Petsco, 25, for providing false information to a law enforcement agency.
