PHOENIX (AP) — A Tempe man accused of trying to sexually assault a woman at a Phoenix resort last year has been sentenced to lifetime probation.

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge on Wednesday also sentenced 30-year-old Michael Robert Martinez to one year of deferred jail as part of his probation, which carries mental health and sex offender terms.

Martinez pleaded guilty to one count of attempted kidnapping and one count of attempted sexual assault.

A 30-year-old woman who works at the Arizona Grand Resort told police she was attacked Dec. 26 while in a bathroom located in a separate building from her office.

The woman says the man burst inside the restroom while she was washing her hands and tried to sexually assault her. She escaped and security detained Martinez for police.
