Two people are behind bars after taking Mesa police on a 10-mile chase.

The chase started near Mesa Drive and Brown Road. Mesa police were called out after a witness saw a man and woman fighting inside a black SUV.

At some point, the man pulled out a gun before driving away. Police initially thought it was a kidnapping, but later learned it was a domestic dispute.

The chase ended on the Salt River Indian Community near 117th Avenue and Meadowbrook.

The suspects drove the SUV into a person’s home. Police told ABC15 both suspects jumped out and hid in an outdoor laundry room.

“I just can’t believe that happened. We have kids in this neighborhood. It’s pretty quiet. I was worried they would hurt someone,” said neighbor Lisa Miguel.

Police are still investigating why the couple took off. Both are in custody of the Salt River Indian Police.
