PHOENIX (AP) — A Mesa man has pleaded guilty to aggravated drunk driving while seven children were in his car.
Twenty-three-year-old Robert Frank Soto pleaded guilty to the charge in Maricopa County Superior Court on Tuesday. Child endangerment charges were dropped under a plea deal.
Soto was arrested on Feb. 21 after police say he drove through an accident scene and was blocking traffic.
Soto told police that he drank three beers earlier in the day. He had a blood-alcohol level of .16, twice the legal limit.
Police found seven children in Soto's car, and all were under the age of 15; three of them were in the trunk.
Soto is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 20.
Soto has been convicted in the past stemming from a hit-and-run death.
