A Mesa man is facing multiple charges after he and his dog allegedly attacked a police officer at a Mesa Target store.

Samkeita Jahveh Jurden had his initial appearance Tuesday in Maricopa County Superior Court. His bond was set at $5,600.

Jurden was arrested Monday night on suspicion of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing and assault by a vicious animal.

Police say Jurden was asked by Target employees to leave the store several times Monday night because he was sitting in the middle of an aisle with his pitbull dog for a lengthy period of time.

Police tried to arrest Jurden, but he resisted and allegedly bit one officer on the arm.

They say Jurden's dog attacked and bit an officer before the animal was fatally shot.

Works for me. Nothing in the policy book says an Officer has to "take one for the team" before being able to defend themselves.

    "Clean-up on aisle fourteen...."
