A 42-year-old man Chandler police say broke into another man’s car in a downtown neighborhood was arrested after an alert resident spotted him.

After the victim provided police a detailed subscription of the suspect and his vehicle, police arrested Ramon Carreno-Ochoa about 4 a.m. Friday, minutes after they say he broke into a car in the 1200 block of East Boston Street.

When police contacted Carreno-Ochoa, he tried to run from officers but was caught. He was booked into jail on suspicion of three counts of burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police were quick to remind residents not to leave vehicles unlocked or valuables inside a parked car and keep it inside the garage whenever possible. People also are encouraged to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood or join a neighborhood watch group. For more information, call Chandler police at www.chandlerpd.com or (480) 782-4967.
