A Mesa woman who worked as a cashier in the Fort McDowell Casino gift shop is facing up to 20 years in federal prison on a theft charge, suspected of stealing more than $1,000 in a two-week period.

A federal grand jury handed down one count of felony theft by an officer of a gaming establishment on Indian lands against Jeraldine Ann Kay, 45, on Tuesday, according to information released by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

If convicted, Kay also could be facing up to a $1 million fine.
