One person was killed and a deputy was injured in a crash in Pinal County late Thursday.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the three-vehicle accident occurred just before 10 p.m. on U.S. 60 east of Gold Canyon.
Officer Tim Case with the Arizona Department of Public Safety saidthe Pinal County deputy was traveling on westbound U.S. 60 when a Chevrolet pickup was turning around on the roadway.
The deputy reportedly t-boned the pickup, causing fatal injuries to the driver.
Case said the driver of the pickup was identified as 57-year-old Jeffrey Sorenson of Virginia.
As both vehicles came to rest the driver of a third vehicle, who could not see the vehicles in the roadway, sideswiped the deputy’s patrol vehicle, said Case.
The deputy was airlifted to local area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the third vehicle was transported to the hospital because she was eight months pregnant, but Case said she has been released.
