Gilbert police arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly almost hit an officer with his vehicle following a family fight, police said.

John Thomas Pole, 22, of Gilbert, was in his vehicle when police arrived in the 3000 block of East Morrison Ranch Parkway, the scene of the fight.

Pole was ordered to get out of his vehicle and he refused, police said. Instead, he drove his car forwards toward an officer, who was able to move out of the way.

The man then fled across the driveway, through a neighbor’s yard and east on Morrison Ranch Parkway, police said. Officers were unable to locate Pole after he left, but made contact with him when he returned to the residence a few hours later.

Pole was arrested for failure to obey and endangerment, police said.
