A man who pleaded guilty to a first-degree murder charge for killing a Chandler woman inside a vacant house has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Jaime Coronado avoided a possible death sentence by pleading guilty to killing 41-year-old Michelle Melinda Morales in a plea agreement with prosecutors earlier this month. Her body was found on the floor of a vacant house on March 1, 2010.
Coronado was arrested the following day by the U.S. Marshals service.
A court spokeswoman says Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Warren Granville sentenced the 34-year-old Coronado on Wednesday.
