A former Tempe firefighter facing criminal charges for allegedly pushing and kicking a fire official is asking for his job back.
The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/MZCv3Q) reports 25-year-old Michael Keene apologized in a letter for the Aug. 11, 2011 incident that occurred as a blaze was burning his home.
Police and fire reports say Keene became enraged when he was prohibited from going back into his house to search for his wife's wedding gown. Authorities say Keene then physically assaulted 58-year-old Marc Scott, causing the then-assistant fire chief to double over in pain.
Authorities also say the blaze appeared "suspicious," ruling out electrical or natural causes.
Keene was fired in May for violating department policies.
A Tempe city spokeswoman says criminal charges do not necessarily prevent him from being rehired.

His job back? He should be incarcerated for the aggravated assault charge for assaulting a fireman. He is not firefighter material.
