A man was found about midnight Wednesday apparently attempting to take computers from a City of Mesa building.

Mesa police caught Kenny Taylor fleeing office space leased from the city near Benedictine University at 51 E. Main St., according to police spokesman Steve Berry.

Inside the university’s offices, police found laptop computers unhooked from their docking stations and placed inside a bag, Berry said.

Police initially responded to the offices about 12:40 a.m. because of a silent alarm, Berry said. An officer saw Taylor inside the building. Taylor tried to leave the scene on a bicycle, but was apprehended by police without incident. Police discovered a broken glass door at the office. Taylor refused to answer questions by investigating officers. He was booked on suspicion of burglary.
