Residents of a Mesa apartment complex confronted two burglars they caught in the act, chasing one of them down before calling police.
Mesa police said residents spotted the burglars Friday night in the 500 block of South Roosevelt Road. The two men broke a window to enter an apartment, and were confronted by neighbors as they left.
Police said Shane T. Turner, 32, was chased by a neighbor. The other suspect, Matthew A. Massingill, 23, swung his arms at a crowd of neighbors and was then hit on the head with a wooden baseball bat, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and residential trespassing.
