Authorities say a Phoenix-area man who had been sought since Wednesday for killing his wife has been found hanging from an overpass.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a passer-by spotted the body of 35-year-old Manuel Julio Alcantar at about 8:30 a.m. on Friday hanging from an overpass in the west Phoenix city of El Mirage.
Deputies had been seeking Alcantar since he fled a Youngtown home Wednesday afternoon after he killed his 32-year-old estranged wife in front of family members.
Sheriff's spokesman Doug Matteson says Julio Alcantar confronted his wife in the home, pulled a gun and shot at her as she fled into the street. After Sabrina Alcantar was hit once and fell down in the street, Matteson says he went up to her and slit her throat.
