GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — A Tempe man accused of kidnapping and molesting a 14-year-old Goodyear girl has been sentenced to probation and deferred jail time.
Maricopa County prosecutors said Friday that under a plea agreement, 25-year-old Christopher Shanin was sentenced to three years of supervised probation and six months of deferred jail for unlawful imprisonment.
He also was sentenced to three years of supervised probation for endangerment and the terms will run concurrently.
Shanin was arrested after authorities say he abducted the girl from a grocery store parking lot in May 2011 and sexually assaulting her before letting her go.
Witnesses wrote down the car's license plate and that led to Shahin's arrest after a high-speed police chase.
Authorities say the girl identified Shanin as her attacker out of a police lineup.

Really? Probation for raping and kidnapping a 15 year old girl? That's it? It's a good thing that the raper did not have a joint in his pocket.

So this jerk abducts a 14 year old girl in the parking lot and he gets only probation and deferred jail time? You have to be kidding. Isn't there something in the law that equates abduction with out right kidnapping..a Federal and State crime? This sentencing judge should be run out of town. Remember folk who to vote for come election time. Be sure to vett these judges before voting.
