Maricopa County Sheriff deputies are continuing to investigate the death of an 88-year-old Mesa woman and trying to locate her grandson who was living with her at the time her body was in a decomposed state inside her residence.
The body of Lola Pershall was found about 5:30 a.m. Friday inside her east Mesa home in the 200 block of North 58th Place near University Drive and Recker Road. Authorities were conducting a welfare check on her because relatives had not heard from her for a period of time, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause of death.
Pershall’s grandson, Reginald Gardner III, 43, who was living with her, is not considered a suspect in connection to the woman’s death, but authorities are trying to locate him to confirm his safety, according to the sheriff’s office.
A vehicle registered to Pershall was found near Houston. Investigators are trying to determine whether the car surfacing in Texas has any connection to Pershall’s death.
Gardner is described as a white male, 5-feet 10-inches tall, and weighing about 195 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information about this case or Gardner’s whereabouts, can call the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office at (602) 876-1011.
