Deputies discovered a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound in front of a known drug house in Mesa Thursday afternoon, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reports.
Bryan Berg was reportedly found in a truck after being shot in the leg and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, MCSO says.
Neighbors told responding officers that multiple people had fled the scene by foot and that one person may have still been inside the house located at 414 S. 97th Avenue.
Helicopter, K9, and the Tactical Operations Unit responded to the scene and found no one inside the home.
Police say that detectives later discovered that Berg had gone to the house and started a confrontation with Lucas Orf, 20.
Orf reportedly fired a weapon twice, one shot into the ground and another at Berg, striking his leg.
There was reportedly drug activity at the house, but detectives aren't sure whether or not the confrontation was over drugs.
Orf was arrested for outstanding warrants and will most likely be charged for the recent shooting incident, police say.
Orf was also on probation at the time and was prohibited from handing firearms.
Investigators are still researching further details from Thursday's incident.
