A San Tan Valley man was sentenced to 24 years in prison for molesting a 14-year-old girl.

Robert Guy Jr. received the sentence from Judge Hank Gooday on Thursday in Pinal County Superior Court. He will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life upon his release, according to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office.

Guy, 36, pleaded guilty to child molestation and attempted child molestation. He must serve all 24 years of his sentence, according to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office.

Investigators discovered that Guy found the victim’s cell phone number in his son’s cell phone and began texting her, identifying himself as a 17-year-old boy. He eventually told her he was 29 and asked to meet with her. The girl alerted authorities and Guy was arrested on March 7, during an arranged meeting with the girl.
