A 73-year-old woman who struck a pedestrian on Pecos Road east of Arizona Avenue on Friday evening will not be charged in connection to the 41-year-old man’s death, Chandler police said.

Linden Moffett, 41, a transient who is a member of the Gila River Indian Community, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the woman struck him as he was running across the street about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, according to Detective Seth Tyler, a Chandler police spokesman.

Moffett, who was jaywalking, had stolen two bottles of alcohol from the nearby WalMart and had them inside his backpack, Tyler said.

The woman said she did not see him as he ran across the road.

I sure hope she wouldn't be charged. This woman should be commended for ridding the gene pool of a thieving, alcholic b um.
