Early Saturday morning, a man was arrested in Gilbert on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated DUI, felony flight and other charges, police said.

According to police, Wade Travis, 43, fled after a Gilbert police officer attempted to contact him regarding a suspicious activity call in the area of 4200 E. Park. Travis, driving a motorcycle, eventually led police to the area of Power and Queen Creek roads, where he laid down his motorcycle and ran into thick brush.

With the assistance of Mesa Police Department Air, a Chandler K-9 unit and a Mesa K-9 unit, Travis was found. While trying to arrest him, Travis fought with officers and was bitten by a K-9, Gilbert police said. After being transported to an emergency room for treatment, he was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail.
